Moore runs seventh in Civil War 360 Series opener
By Gary Thomas
Petaluma, CA – April 13, 2009…Returning to the site of his
first outing in the F&F Racing machine last year Princeton's
Mason Moore came back this past Saturday night and opened up the
2009 Civil War Series season with a seventh place finish at the
Petaluma Speedway.
The California Sprint Car Civil War Series season was originally
scheduled to open in Placerville on March 21, but inclement
weather forced the event to be cancelled, making this most
recent race at Petaluma Speedway the season opener for the
traveling 360 series.
Last September Moore took to the Petaluma Speedway driving the
Friends & Family Racing No. x1 for the first time and scored
a fifth place finish in the feature. He returned to the track on
Saturday looking for another solid night to kick off the 13
event season with California's premier winged 360 sprint car
series.
The 18 year-old driver kept up his strong qualifying this season
while competing in the F&F racing sprinter as he turned the
second quickest lap in the 44 car field aboard the Levin's Auto
Supply, 1-800 Dry Clean, Sierra Single Ply No. x1. A fifth place
finish in the heat race however, forced him to run the night's
b-main event.
Lining-up on the pole of semi Moore battled up front in the 12
lap contest and at the checkered crossed the line in third, to
transfer into the feature. By running third in the semi Moore
got his time back behind the inversion and it gave the Inventory
Sales Company, Daylight West, Merit Logistics No. x1 a third row
starting spot in the main event.
The 3/8 mile oval was prepared to perfection like it usually is
and a long green flag run was seen, which created some hectic
racing through traffic on the sticky Petaluma Speedway clay.
Moore fought among the top 10 cars during the feature and after
30 laps of hard contested racing would bring home a seventh
place finish for the second Saturday in a row.
With Silver Dollar Speedway taking this coming Friday off the
next event for Moore will be Saturday's second Red Hawk Casino
360 Point Race at the Placerville Speedway.
"Primetime" scored a seventh place finish during the
opening point race on April 4 at the red-clay bullring and will
attempt to put the Friends & Family Racing, A.R.T.
Enterprise No. x1 towards the front of the pack this weekend.
